Aviation Pathway

Minnetonka's Aviation Pathway guides students through foundational concepts to more advanced applications. Starting with basic aerodynamics and progressing through flight simulation, drone operations, and finally, actual flight training, the pathway is structured to build confidence and skills systematically. Each course builds on the previous, culminating in a well-rounded education that prepares students for various roles in the aviation field.

Aircraft Maintenance and Applied Math - New for 2026-27

Credits: 1.0 Applied Math, 1.0 Elective Credit Aircraft Maintenance

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Higher Algebra

Build real-world aviation skills through the technical side of flight. This hands-on course introduces aircraft systems, tools, safety, and the applied math used by FAA A&P mechanics (measurement, tolerances, torque, weight & balance, electrical fundamentals, and blueprint reading).

Flight Instruction and World History

Course: #M7100
Grade(s) offered:  Grade 10, Grade 11, Grade 12; Enrollment priority in this course will be given to seniors and juniors. Additional seats will be given to sophomores who have met the prerequisites.
Credits:  2.0 (year-long course, 2 hours)

  • 1.0 High School Credit of World History
  • 1.0 Elective Credit Flight Training  

Prerequisites: 0.5 credit in an Intro to Aviation course (Flight Simulation or UAS/Drones) OR an online Part 107 Remote Pilot (drones) course completion (groundschool.com). Students who have taken World History at MHS are not eligible for this course.

This interdisciplinary course combines the required World History credit with private pilot ground school and advanced flight simulation. Students explore major historical eras while applying aviation concepts through virtual flights to global destinations studied in class—such as flying to Renaissance cities while examining European history.

This is a year-long, dual-taught course for students with prior simulated flight training. This course explores advanced flight training scenarios, meteorology, and the global economic impact of aviation, emphasizing flight operations and economic principles.
