This is the year of immersion at Minnetonka High School! Just a few weeks ago, I was honored to watch our first graduating class of immersion students cross the stage at the June 6 Commencement ceremony at U.S. Bank Stadium. A remarkable number of students—17 in Chinese and 58 in Spanish—maintained continuous enrollment in our language immersion program from first through twelfth grade.

Last summer, more than 7,000 square feet of underutilized physical education locker room space at Minnetonka High School was transformed into a 21st Century instructional and collaboration space.

After an amazing state championship win in 2018, the Minnetonka High School Boys Hockey team was selected by FOX Sports North to be featured on “Dream.State.” This exciting documentary series went behind the scenes to meet the players and coaches, share their inspiring stories and show how the entire community rallied to support them.

Every year Minnetonka Alumni Magazine features graduating seniors who are already accomplished in the areas of academics, arts, athletics and supporting a positive atmosphere. Be sure to keep a close watch on them as they move beyond Minnetonka High School!

VANTAGE mentors make a commitment to encourage and motivate high school students in the areas of career and life exploration and development. Mentors also coach students and teams on their VANTAGE project work.

Curtis Geldert has walked the halls of Minnetonka High School for as long as he can remember. In 1986, he was Curtis, the quiet kid who sat in the back of the class and whispered sarcastic comments to those around him. Today, he’s the same guy, but at the front of the class as Mr. Geldert, the physics teacher. I just call him Dad.
