The honor celebrates schools, teachers and community leaders for their strong efforts in supporting music education and integrating many diverse and advanced music classes into the school's core curriculum.

This summer, Minnetonka Theatre celebrates 15 years of elementary school musicals by revisiting its very first production, Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS, a musical based on the classic animated film, 101 Dalmatians. This production brings together fourth and fifth graders from all six elementary schools in the district.

The Celebration of Excellence awards event is presented by Minnetonka Public Schools, with the generous support of the Minnetonka Public Schools Foundation, which joins the program this year as a leading sponsor. Congratulations to this year’s Celebration of Excellence award recipients!

Students took a field trip to visit some MHS MOMENTUM Aviation students in the flight classrooms at the school district’s VANTAGE MOMENTUM Building. There, the elementary students interviewed high schoolers about their end-of-semester projects and then got to be co-pilots in the program’s flight simulators. 

Dr. Amy LaDue, Associate Superintendent, thanked visiting legislators and state leaders for taking time to see this work firsthand. “You saw where the legislation started, and now you’re seeing how it is hitting the ground in our classrooms,” she noted. “This is how we close achievement gaps—by raising all boats.”
